There was an unbeaten start for England on day one of the European Youth Championships in Romania today.
The Junior Girls’ line-up of Charlotte Bardsley, Denise Payet and Megan Gidney enjoyed two 3-0 victories, over Montenegro and Scotland, as the group stage got under way in Cluj Napoca.
There were also wins for both Cadet teams – the boys overcoming Estonia 3-1 with Amirul Hussain, Josh Weatherby and Louis Price on duty and the girls (Ruby Chan and Jasmin Wong) having the same margin of victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
There was a noteworthy comeback win by Chan, who fought back from 2-0 down in the opening match of the Bosnia tie to beat Dora Cosic in a decider.
