Liam McTiernan overcame his seeding to progress

With over 20 men’s singles groups in action over the course of Saturday there are plenty of top matches and players progressing into the preliminary rounds.

There were a few shocks among the early results from the qualifying groups as youngster Liam McTiernan progressed from his group after comfortably beating ETTA Regional Coach Shaun Marples 3-0 (11-6, 12-10, 11-8) to upset the seedings and reach the knock-out phase.
