The men’s doubles final will be contested between the top seeds Liam Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall against Darius Knight and Daniel Reed.

Favourites Pitchford and Drinkhall faced the surprise semi-finalists in junior players Sam Walker and Lewis Gray. While the junior pair fought hard they were always up against the extra skill and power on show from the English number one and two as they took the first game 11-7.

When Pitchford and Drinkhall raced ahead again early on in the second game the game was up and the favourites eventually progressed comfortably 3-0.

Knight and Reed meanwhile had a tougher match against Gavin Evans and David McBeath who had both shone on Saturday.

Knight and Reed took an expected first game lead 11-7 but Evans and McBeath rallied to take the second game 11-9. After that there was a storm of strong forehands from both the favourites as they earned their final place with a crushing 11-4 third game before a comfortable 11-6 game finished the tie with Evans and McBeath seemingly accepting their fate.
