Paul training with the squad this week in Lilleshall

Paul Drinkhall has been withdrawn from the Heritage Oil Open this weekend to ensure he gets to the Commonwealth Games in top condition.

The decision was made on the advice of England medical staff as part of the ongoing management of Paul’s workload since he had a hip operation last year.

Team leader Jon Pett said: “This is purely a precautionary measure and Paul remains fully on course to take his place in the England Commonwealth Games team in Glasgow.

“We routinely monitor the workloads of all our players in the build-up to major championships and as part of that process it was felt that being stood down from the Heritage Oil Open would help ensure Paul arrives in Glasgow in the best possible condition.”
