Paul Drinkhall beat world No 6 Jun Mizutani 3-2 on the last point of the match as the latest round of the T2 championships got under way in Malaysia today.

Drinkhall came from 0-3 down in the fifth and final game to win by taking a 4-3 lead seconds after the klaxon had gone to indicate that time was up in the 24-minute match.

It completed a 3-2 (11-8, 3-11, 10-11, 11-8, 4-3) victory over the Japanese left-hander which also proved crucial to the overall fixture result as Drinkhall’s Team Rossi edged out series leaders Team Persson 15-14, despite Mizutani defeating Dimitrij Ovtcharov 4-1 in the final tie.

The championships is now in its third of six rounds of fixtures, with Drinkhall, who features in the below promotional video, set to line up against Team JJ and Team Maze over the next three days.
