Paul Drinkhall has been elected as a member of the ETTU Athletes Commission. The election was held during the European Championships and Drinkhall polled more votes than the other two candidates – Dana Cechova of Czech Republic and Eva Odorova of Slovakia.
He joins a panel chaired by Spanish player Galia Dvorak and also including Romania’s Adrian Crisan, Zoltan Primorac of Croatia and para representative Jose Manuel Ruiz of Spain.
Drinkhall, who will be on the panel for the next two years, said in his election statement: “I have a wide range of experiences and have battled through many different challenges so I feel prepared to ensure that athlete views are represented strongly in the shaping of table tennis in Europe and across the globe.”
Table Tennis England Chief Executive Sara Sutcliffe said: “Congratulations to Paul on his election to the Athletes’ Commission. It shows he is held in high regard by his fellow athletes and also that English table tennis is increasingly influential on the international stage. We will fully support Paul to make a success of the role.”
