Draycott East Midlands maintained their unbeaten record to lift the Women’s British League Premier Division title.

Victories over Thorntons and Halton (both 6-0) and Burton Uxbridge and Fusion (both 4-2) saw the squad of Emma Vickers, Abbie Milwain and Inta Zdanovska go into their last match still sporting a 100% record.

And although that fell by the wayside, a 3-3 draw against YHL meant no defeats in their scorebook as they won the division by seven points.

YHL had gone into the weekend in second place but they won only one of their remaining matches, drawing three, to allow Fusion’s squad of Lois Peake, Emma Torkington and Emma Tovey (with Sarah Short from Weekend 1) to overtake them by winning four out of five matches at Tipton on Weekend 2.

There were double celebrations for Draycott when Diana Rusinova, Nicole Bird and Amy Humphreys won Division One, with a record of seven wins and three draws, Kate Cheer having contributed on Weekend 1. Knighton Park were second in that division.

In Division Two, Byng Hall A led the way with seven victories and three draws, with Fusion II as runners-up, while Division Three saw York Gardens Angels win nine and draw one to take the title ahead of Draycott III.

The only 100% record belonged to Division Four winners Burton Uxbridge II, who won the title ahead of Halton III, while Division Five went to MK Vixens (W9, L1), with Cippenham B second.

Draycott III were voted as Team of the Weekend, while Helen Rutherford of St Andrew’s was Player of the Weekend. The Solihull Cup, for the person who has enhanced the WBL the most this season, was awarded to umpire Graham Rollinson.

Four players received commemorative T-shirts for maintining personal 100% records over the second weekend – Hweiching Lim, Letitia McMullan, Amy Humphreys and Charlotte Bardsley. A Pink Pong raffle raised £178.

The WBL dates for next season are October 1-2, 2016 and February 4-5, 2017.
