GREAT BRITAIN’S DARIUS KNIGHT GETS HIS ITTF PRO TOUR FINALS CHANCE
Great Britain’s Darius Knight has been given a late opportunity to compete in the Under 21 Men’s singles of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Pro Tour Finals, being run as the London Olympic’s test event for the sport at the ExCel, London, the venue in 2012.
The left handed Knight has been entered into the draw by virtue of being the first reserve from the ITTF Pro Tour Circuit, Russia’s Alexander Shibaev having dropped out owing to visa problems. He will play his first group match against Chen Feng of Singapore at 12 midday on Thursday (24th November), meeting subsequent group opponents Hung Tzu-Hsiang (Taipei) at 2pm and Kim Min Seok (Korea) at 4pm.
Most of the very top players in the world are competing for a prize fund of $365,000 in men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles , and under 21 men’s and women’s singles, at this event being held from Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th November. In addition Great Britain men and women are taking on World All Star sides in team matches matches at 7pm on the Friday evening.
Spectators can still pay at the venue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with tickets for the special team matches being priced at £10. However, it might well be advisable to book tickets for the Sunday at the Box Office number, 0795 8462787.
