There were no big shocks for Darius Knight in Chile as he was defeated in both his singles and doubles ties on Friday.

He had reached the last 32 in the singles competition at the GAC Group ITTF World Tour Chile Open but came up against a tough opponent in the form of Japanese player Kazuhiro Chan, the world number 60.

Chan proved a step too far for Knight who was beaten in straight games 11-5, 11-6, 11-9, 13-11.

Earlier in the day Knight, and partner Niall Cameron from Scotland, were beaten in the last 16 of the men’s doubles by Korean pair Lee Jung Woo and Kim Dong Hyun.

That too was a straight games victory for the Koreans as a disappointing day all round was completed for the Londoner.
