Daniel Reed has been called into the England squad to compete at the World Team Championships in Tokyo later this month.

The England No 5 replaces Andrew Baggaley, who has withdrawn following a family bereavement, and joins Liam Pitchford, Paul Drinkhall and Sam Walker in the squad.

The championships run from April 28 to May 5. England’s men are the top seeds in Group G, where they will face Slovakia, Turkey, Thailand, Congo Brazzaville and Israel.

The women’s squad of Joanna Drinkhall, Kelly Sibley, Hannah Hicks and Tin-Tin Ho are top seeds in Group F and have been drawn against Lithuania, Malaysia, Wales, Colombia and Israel.

Both men and women are bidding for promotion from Division Two to the top flight.
