New Year/old tournament
The first major New Year event for the Clacton and District League is the Handicapped Singles Tournament which takes place on Saturday 26th January at the Coastal Academy Sports Hall.
The Tournament is open to all registered League players. Entries should be sent to Tony Oswick or e-mailed directly to Pete White. Players who enter by e-mail should ensure they receive a confirmation of their entry. The entry fee is £3.00.
This will be the 31st running of the Tournament which has always proved a popular event. However, the Management Committee has agreed that a minimum entry of 32 players will be needed to ensure it goes ahead.

* As the League’s forty teams set out on the second-half of the season, the Division One title could be finding a home for the first-time ever at the Nomads club.
At the half-way mark, Nomads Panthers hold a twelve-point lead at the top of the table and they begin 2013 as favourites ahead of Brotherhood and Walton A, with reigning champions Windsor Condors already too far off the pace to retain the crown.
Three teams – Nomads Lions, Nomads Jaguars and Windsor Kestrels – are adrift at the bottom so perm any two of these three for the relegation places.
Only four points separate Brotherhood D, Brotherhood C and Lawford at the top of Division Two and, with Nomads Cougars just a handful of points away and having a game in hand, these four teams could produce the spiciest of promotion battles.
At the foot of the table, Nomads Ocelots have experienced a mini-revival in recent weeks, leaving Brotherhood G and Brotherhood E perilously placed.
Brotherhood J have yet to be beaten in Division Three and look good for the top spot, with Brotherhood I, Nomads Pumas and Windsor Swallows all in with a realistic chance of finishing runners-up.
* In one of a handful of League matches played this week, Windsor Condors brushed aside the challenge of Brotherhood B in Division One, Colin Stallwood, Gary Cattermole and John Pattrick all taking maximum points in the 10-0 win.
In Division Two Nomads Ocelots drew with Brotherhood F, Doug Green and reserve Harry Hawkes taking two each for the Ocelots, as did Barry Allen and Sandie Isaac for Brotherhood.
In Division Three Mike Vilka took three and Kevin Hume two as Nomads Lynx defeated Nomads Wildcats 6-4, Brian Friday taking two for the losers. The closest match of the evening saw Paul Dale of the Wildcats beat Alan Charman 11-9 in the decider.
Tony Rayner’s win over John Houghton was Nomads Leopards’ sole point in their 9-1 reverse at the hands of Nomads Pumas, Alan Dockerill and John Bowers unbeaten for the Pumas.
