Danbury A (Michael Andrews and Antony Greenwood) turn on the style against Rawreth A
Danbury A were the week’s big winners in division one of the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League this week against Danbury B, winning 9-1.
Antony Greenwood and Michael Andrews were both undefeated and they both claimed the scalp of Kevin Read in the process. Greenwood won his encounter by a thrilling 3-2 (11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 5-11, 18-16) margin.
Maldon A impressed by beating Rawreth A 8- 2. Paul Sayer won his three singles for Maldon although Glenn Johnson made his mark with a fine 10-12, 18-16, 5-11, 11-9, 11-9 win over Alex Abbott.
Bocking continue to score well and they beat ECC B 8-2. Paul Davison won his three singes and this included a five game win over Rik James.
ECC A stay second and they beat a two-player Rawreth A 6-4. ECC’s Peter Lau scored the stand-out win by defeating Gary Young in five ends.
ECC C used Peter Lau to good effect as well in division two. Lau won his three singles which enabled ECC C to beat Danbury C 7-3. Bryn Thomas picked up two wins and this included a hard-fought 3-2 (7-11, 17-15, 11-6, 9-11, 13-11) victory over Graham Briggs.
Elmtree Graphics B beat Liberal 7-3 to stay top. Scott Dowsett won his three singles.
OCs B are in a class of their own in division three and they made it 16 wins out of 16 by beating ECC D 10-0. Robert Burton, Steve Northcott and Nat Ravlic were all on top form.
Elmtree Excalibur C stay second and they beat ECC D 8-2. Lin Attridge and Paul Sturton both won their three singles. Lin had to pull out all the stops to get the better of Peter Layzell 3-2 (9-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 12-10).
Danbury G also joined the “Big Winners Club” this week. Robert Kneale (three wins), Chris Hancox (two wins) and Gordon Gatherall (two wins) defeated ECC E 8-2.
Danbury H beat OCs C 7-3. Dave Marsh’s hat-trick was the difference between the two teams.
OCs E are equally dominant in division four and they are currently leading the way by 26 points with a game in hand as well. Frank Hodge and Daniel Berry led them to a 8-2 win over ECC H.
OCs D are fighting hard for second place and they drew 5-5 against Elmtree Excalibur D. Wiktor Delimat won his three singles for the Elmtree side whilst John Marshall beat Stuart Wintle 3-2 (11-9, 9-11, 10-12, 11-7, 11-9) in the closest game of the night.
The match between Danbury J and EPHQ also finished as a 5-5 draw. Dave Powell won twice for Danbury J whilst Ian Hockley and Francis Whitbread both picked up two wins for EPHQ. Calvin Wright secured the draw for the EPHQ team by defeating Dave Goody 3-2 (11-7, 11-8, 6-11, 6-11, 13-11) in the last game of the evening.
Yet another game finished in a draw with Writtle B and Danbury K sharing the points. Matthew Brown won his three singles in only his second appearance of the Season. Danbury’s Ray Cheung just prevailed 3-2 (11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 10-12, 13-11) against Frank Neill in a well contested last game of the night.
Elsewhere, a strong Hatfield Peverel E team (Adam Carter, Dave Carter and Ray Eldridge) were convincing 9-1 winners over Danbury L.
In division five Danbury M notched up their fifth win of the season. John Knights and Scott Perry were both influential as they defeated OCs F 9-1.
ECC G beat Elmtree Excalibur E 6-4. Mark Glenister was undefeated.
Buttsbury B were double winners in the CLICK League. Nathan Fry and Joseph Mendoza beat Buttsbury C 5-0 whilst Nathan Fry and Daniel Cunnew defeated Chelmsford G 4-1. They won all four singles. Chelmsford G (Kristian Krejurik and Callum Day) were 4-1 winners over OCs H Kristian Krejurik beat Aswin Siam 3-2 (11-5, 12-10, 8-11, 5-11, 11-8) in the closest game of the night.
