Ben Warner – too hot for Elmtree Graphics A

Maldon B, leaders of the first division in the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League produced a work-manlike performance to beat Elmtree Graphics A 8-
2. Ben Warner and Minda Sinkus were both undefeated. Ben, playing well again after a lengthy absence from the game raced through his singles with 3-0 wins over Phil Smith, Peter Mynard and Gary Cattermole. However, Maldon B didn’t fare so well against Bocking. Kevin Gowlett led Bocking to a 7-3 victory. Jon Hill impressed  by beating Greg Green 4-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 but in Greg in turn hit back by recording a fine 11-5, 11-3, 4-11, 11-8 victory over Paul Davison. Second-placed ECC A took full advantage when facing ECC B who were without their top player – Rik James. Peter Radford, Reuben Okai and Mark Mulley raced to a 10-0 win.  Michael Andrews starred for Danbury A by taking his three singles in his side’s 5-5 draw against Rawreth A. Three good wins against Chris Jacob, Gary Young and Glenn Johnson.

ECC  C impressed in division two by beating Chelmsford B 8-2. Peter Lau and James Hicks both recorded hat-tricks. Hicks was tied at 2-2 with Ryan Pitt
before he pulled clear in the third end to win decisively 11-9, 7-11, 9-11, 14-12, 11-3. Danbury D (Steve Whiteley, Dave Richardosn and Ivan Chaplin) did well
to beat the higher-placed Rawreth B 7-3 whilst Danbury E (Tim Cramphorn, Dick Wyman and Tony Forster) defeated Hatfield Peverel A 6-4 – good going as none of their players were able to get the better of the hard-hitting Dave Calleja.

OCs B made it 12 wins out of 12 in division three by beating OCs C 8-2. Steve Northcott was unbeaten for the B team whilst former first division player Roy
Moore rolled back the years with an excellent 9-11, 11-4, 10-12, 11-8, 11-9 victory over Robbie Burton. David Porter scored a hard-fought 11-8, 13-11, 11-9
success against Nat Ravlic. Elmtree Excalibur C scored their ninth win of the season with a 9-1 victory over Maldon C. Steve Cheesman and Pau Sturton were
both undefeated. The match between ECC D and Chelmsford C was a much closer affair, and it finished tied at 5-5. Peter Layzell won his three singles for
the ECC D team whilst Paul Nicol and Ryan Gooday both won  twice for the Chelmsford side.

Division four leaders OCs E featured in no fewer than four results this week- and it turned out to be a very productive period for them. A 7-3 loss against
Chelmsford D was followed by three victories – a comprehensive 9-1 win over Writtle B, a 7-3 victory against Danbury L and a 8-2 win against Elmtree
Excalibur D. They top the table with 97 points. Highlights were the 9-1 win over Writtle B and the 8-2 victory over Elmtree Excalibur D. Frank Hodge was
undefeated in both games whilst Daniel Berry only lost once. Daniel succumbed 7-11, 12-14, 11-7, 13-11, 11-13 in a real thriller against Elmtree Excalibur D’s
Wiktor Delimat. Elmtree Excalibur D beat ECC F 6-4. Wiktor  Delimat and John Marshall both picked up three wins. John Marshall completed his hat-trick with a hard-fought 7-11, 11-8,11-9, 11-9 success against Peter Sun.

OCs G top the table in division five and they made no mistake against OCs F. Peter Windley, Tom Barker and Josh Watts ran out 9-1 winners.

Buttsbury A lead in the CLICK League from Buttsbury B. Both teams won this week. Buttsbury A (Billy Mitchell and George Cobley) beat Black Notley 3-2
although neither of their players were able to get the better of Will Brazier. Buttsbury B (Nathan Fry and Matthew Elliot) were 3-2 winners over Chelmsford H.
Nathan had to fight back from 2-0 down to get the better of Steven Davenport 10-12, 11-13, 11-3, 11-6, 11-6.
