Chelmsford A are the early leaders in the first division of the Central Essex Summer League and they hit top form this week by beating Maldon 5-0.

Rob Shrimpton set the ball rolling by beating Ciaran Whelan 3-2 (7-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9) in the opening encounter and they never looked back after that. Wiktor Delimat was also undefeated.

Chelmsford B won 4-1 against OCs A after Waseem Qureshi had won both of his singles. Dan Berry impressed for the Old Chelmsfordians side and he beat Cristina Bernardo 3-2 (7-11, 8-11, 14-12, 11-5, 11-9).

Cold Norton also won 4-1. Neil Want was undefeated against OCs B whilst Dick Wyman did well to pip Peter Windley 3-2 (7-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-6, 11-9).

Ramsden B top the division two table. Neil Freeman was undefeated as they beat Ramsden C 4-1. John Parodi was on target for the losers with a hard-fought 3-1 (8-11, 12-10, 11-8, 16-14) success against Trevor Collin.

Chelmsford C also won 4-1. Newcomer Shirish Basan led the way with two wins. Ramsden C ran out 3-2 winners against Ramsden Bellhouse A despite the fact that Paul Sturton won his two singles for Ramsden Bellhouse A. Sturton defeated Dave Carter 3-0 (14-12, 11-5, 11-7) and John Parodi 3-1 (11-5, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9).

Danbury D made it two successive maximum point wins by beating Ramsden D 5-0 in division three. David Gatheral and Ewan Hynd carried all before them. Hynd beat Colin Barham 3-1 (11-4, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6) and Sue Body 3-1 (11-8, 3-11, 11-8, 11-7).

Danbury B edged out Chelmsford D 3-2. Tony Forster won twice for the Danbury side. He was poised at 2-2 with Gordon Fairchild but he powered through in the fifth end to win 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-13, 11-1.

Chelmsford E beat Danbury C 4-1. Harry Buckle won his two singles for the Danbury C team and he impressed by beating Eamon Hall 3-0 (11-7, 11-4, 12-10).

Chelmsford E ran out 4-1 winners in division four against OCs E. Andy Swales was their match-winner. He beat Farooq Ahmed 3-0 (11-5, 11-3, 11-8) and Steve Pratt 3-1 (11-7, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8).

Division five produced three clear-cut results. ARU Rhinos (Mubarak Sulaiman and Jordan Corbett) beat Ramsden Belhouse C 5-0 whilst BlackwaterA defeated Ramsden Bellhouse C 5-0. Kath Little and John Kuhl carried all before them. Little beat Harry Hull 3-1 (4-11, 14-12, 11-9, 14-12) in what was the best encounter of the night.

Blackwater A also beat Chelmsford G 4-1. Phil West was unbeaten for Blackwater. Jacqui Smith beat Kath Little 3-1 (11-2, 9-11, 11-3, 11-6).

Chelmsford Jaguars have made a perfect start in division six. This week they beat Ramsden Bellhouse D 5-0 – their second “clean-sweep”. Annabel Sweeney and Nyree Marsh carried all before them.

Chelmsford Cougars also won 5-0. Harry Chivers and Josh Bickles dominated on this occasion. It was the same story when Chelmsford Jaguars overcame Danbury F. Melinda Abraham Victor and Annabel Sweeney gave nothing away. Chelmsford Rhinos had Josh Bickles undefeated as they beat Chelmsford Leopards. Bickles beat Dion Fernandes (11-7, 11-6, 11-7) and Cleon Fernandes (11-4, 11-8, 11-9).

Chelmsford Falcons impressed in division seven. Oliver Cheung and Alan Jiang ran out 5-0 winners against Ramsden Bellhouse F. Oliver Cheung beat Seamus Mellon 3-2 (11-5, 11-7, 7-11, 11-13, 11-8) in the closest game of the night.

Ramsden Bellhouse E also won 5-0 against Chelmsford Eagles. Oliver Barrett and Oscar Hutt were both undefeated. Hutt defeated Aarav Mehta 3-2 (13-11, 5-11, 7-11, 11-7, 12-10) in the pick of the night’s action.

Chelmsford Panthers, led by Theo Griffiths, defeated Chelmsford Tigers 4-1. George Spicer came through over five very fluctuating ends to beat Afan Hadi 11-3, 12-10, 8-11, 1-11, 11-8.

Chelmsford Wolves were indebted to Nathan Tew as they beat Chelmsford Wildcats 3-2. Tew beat Isabella Borgia (11-6, 11-13, 11-8) and Georgina Riches (11-3, 11-3, 11-9).
