Ramsden A moved into second place in the first division of the Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League with a 5-0 victory over Chelmsford B.

Gary Ward and Peter Barrett carried all before them with Ward having to dig deep to beat Waseem Qureshi 3-2 (3-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-8).

Maldon A defeated OCs B 4-1. Steve Scholz and Ciaran Whelan won all four singles although they missed out 3-1 in the doubles to Charles Yeung and Peter Windley (9-11, 6-11, 11-9, 7-11).

Chelmsford C top the division two table and they stormed home 5-0 against Ramsden C. Shirish Basant and Victor Chan carried all before them. Newcomer Basant impressed by beating Dave Carter  11-4, 11-7, 11-3 and John Gagg 11-6, 11-8, 11-3.

Danbury teams occupy the first three places in division three. Danbury D lead the way but they have played a game more and they were well beaten 4-1 by Danbury B. Ken Sheard was undefeated whilst Jenson Davis won once.

Danbury C scored an excellent 5-0 victory over Chelmsford D. Ben Porter and Eamon Hall were both undefeated. Hall beat Gordon Fairchild 3-2 (11-13, 4-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9) in the pick of the night’s action.

In division four, Ramsden Bellhouse B edged out Galleywood A 3-2. David Penketh and Keith Cullen both won once to counter the two wins that Colin Blore achieved. Penketh had to pull out all the stops to get the better of Nathan Blore 3-2 (11-8, 11-8, 6-11, 11-13, 11-8).

Leaders OCs F also beat Galleywood A 4-1. Mick Richardson was undefeated for the leaders and he beat Colin Blore 3-2 (11-9, 4-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-9). Richardson remains undefeated to date.

Chelmsford H lead the way in division five and they beat ARU Rhinos 3-2. Rajesh Dewan and Bruce Li both won once although they both missed out against Takunda Nerutanga.

OCs G, with Luke Richardson staying undefeated, beat Chelmsford G 3-2. Jacqui Smith came through in five ends to beat Harry Rogers 7-11, 14-12, 10-12, 11-4, 11-6.

Chelmsford Rhinos and Chelmsford Cougars are tied on 18 points in division six. The Rhinos beat Danbury E 4-1. Josh Bickles and Ben Chivers won all four singles.

Chelmsford Pumas went one better, beating Ramsden Bellhouse D 5-0. Joachin Mapes and Saul Chivers carried all before them.

Ramsden Bellhouse D did better against Danbury F and they in turn won 4-1. Max Samuels was unbeaten for Ramsden Bellhouse D whilst Callum Caldwell was on target for Danbury F with a 3-2 (6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8) win over George Standish.

Congratulations to Chelmsford Falcons who are division seven champions. With 29 points out of 30, this was a truly dominant campaign. They wrapped up their title with a 4-1 victory over Ramsden Bellhouse E. Alan Jiang won twice whilst Oliver Cheung only missed out over five ends against George Hagland 3-2 (10-12, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 6-11).

Chelmsford Tigers edged out Chelmsford Eagles 3-2 despite the fact that Charlie Donald was unbeaten for the Eagles. Donald sneaked through in five hard-fought ends against Rayyan Hadi (12-14, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9).

Chelmsford Panthers finished on a high by beating Chelmsford Wildcats 4-1. Theo Griffiths won twice for the Panthers and George Spicer once. Alesha Ellis-Austin beat George Spicer 3-1 (11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6).
