Maldon A were the week’s big winners in division one of the Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League.

Dawn Baldry and Ciaran Whelan ran out 5-0 winners against Cold Norton A with Baldry seeing off Tim Cramphorn 3-2 (11-9, 11-7, 7-11, 8-11, 12-10) in the closest game of the night.

Chelmsford A are top but they were hard pushed to beat Chelmsford B 3-2. Robert Shrimpton was undefeated and he beat Cristian Bernado 3-1 (11-3, 11-8, 9-11, 11-2) and Waseem Qureshi 3-0 (11-7, 13-11, 11-7).

Maldon A also beat Ramsden A 3-2. Whelan was again undefeated whilst Baldry beat Dave Calleja 3-2 (9-11, 11-7, 13-11, 7-11, 11-9).

OCs B impressed and they beat OCs A 4-1. Peter Windley won twice and this included a fine 3-2 (8-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6) win over Daniel Berry.

OC s A did better against Cold Norton A by winning 3-2 with Berry leading the way. He beat Dick Wyman 3-2 (11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-7) and Neil Want also in five (5-11, 11-7, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8).

All three division two matches finished with 3-2 scorelines. Chris Buer led the leaders Danbury A to victory over Chelmsford C. Victor Chan edged out Steve Buer 3-2 (9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 10-12, 11-9).

OCs C saw off Ramsden C despite the fact that John Parodi won twice for the Ramsden C side. Parodi beat Richard Baxter 3-2 (11-7, 6-11, 11-9, 10-12, 11-8). OCs C also beat OCs D and this time Baxter was undefeated. He beat Tom Barker 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 14-12) and Mick Hayes 3-0 (11-9, 11-6, 11-9).

Danbury D lead division three. Ewan Hynd and Sam Ford both won once to counter the two wins achieved by Chelmsford E’s Veneeth Kamma. It was a close call for Kamma, who came out on top against Hynd 3-2 (9-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9).

Cold Norton B, led by an undefeated Peter Lucraft, ran out 3-2 winners over Chelmsford D. Lucraft won a close battle against Gordon Fairchild 3-1 (9-11, 14-12, 11-5, 11-9).

Danbury B were 3-2 winners against Danbury C. Tony Forster led the way with 3-1 wins over Eamon Hall (11-5, 11-8, 4-11, 11-5) and Ben Porter (11-9, 11-3, 8-11, 11-9).

Galleywood B made it three wins out of three in division four. Mark Glenister was unbeaten although he needed five ends to get the better of Sarah Austin (11-5, 11-8, 10-12, 8-11, 11-5) in their 4-1 victory over Chelmsford F.

OCs F (Mick and Luke Richardson) were 4-1 winners over OCs E. Mick Richardson was unbeaten.

Chelmsford F ran out 5-0 winners against Ramsden Bellhouse B. Ian Austin and Sarah Austin carried all before them.

There was a first defeat for Blackwater in division five. They lost 3-2 to second placed ARU Rhinos. Stephen Peacock and Jordan Corbett both won once for ARU Rhinos whilst Kath Little and Phil West both picked up single wins for Blackwater. Peacock had to pull out all the stops to get the better of West 3-2 (8-11, 11-9, 12-10, 9-11, 11-9).

In another match where all four players won one singles, Chelmsford H beat Chelmsford G 3-2. Jacqui Smith beat Bruce Li 3-2 (11-6, 3-11, 6-11, 12-10, 12-10) in a real humdinger.

Ramsden Bellhouse C edged out Chelmsford H 3-2. Pat Webb and Keith Bushell both won once to counter the two wins that Rajesh Dewan annexed. Dewan’s 3-2 win over Bushell (11-7, 10-12, 12-10, 7-11, 11-9) was very much ‘touch and go’.

In division six, Chelmsford Cougars made it four wins out of four. Sudheep Kamma and Harry Chivers ran out 5-0 winners against Chelmsford Jaguars. Kamma had to work hard to beat Nyree Marsh 3-2 (11-9, 11-9, 9-11, 8-11, 11-8).

Chelmsford Pumas beat Chelmsford Rhinos 3-2 although Josh Bickles was unbeaten for the Rhinos.

Danbury E, led by Jenson Davis, beat Danbury F 4-1. Danbury E won no less than three matches 12-10 in the decider. Elliot Gardiner beat Will Ratcliff 7-11, 9-11, 14-12, 11-9, 12-10 whilst the luckless Ratcliff also lost 11-8, 5-11, 11-8, 4-11, 10-12 to Jenson Davis.

In division seven, Chelmsford Falcons made it four maximum-point wins out of four as they hammered Chelmsford Panthers 5-0. Oliver Cheung and Alan Jiang dominated proceedings.

Ramsden Bellhouse F were 4-1 winners over Chelmsford Wildcats after George Standish had won his two singles.

Chelmsford Eagles also won 4-1. They beat Chelmsford Wolves after Charlie Donald had won both of his singles.
