Table Tennis England and the British League committee are delighted to announce that the British League prize fund will be doubled for the upcoming season.

The fund increase is the biggest of its kind at this level and a further sign of intent that Table Tennis England are doing all they can to aid and improve club development.

The news is yet another positive step in Table Tennis England’s objective of aiding domestic table tennis and ensuring that, with financial support, the British League can maximise its impact on the sport and also support clubs in their efforts to become professional organisations.

The total prize fund figure is now £13,330, twice as much as last year’s £6,660 allocation.

As a result, this season’s Premier British League winners will receive £5,300, with second and third being awarded £2,700 and £1,250 respectively. Teams finishing in fourth to sixth positions will receive prizes of £900, £600 and £450, whilst the two teams promoted to the Premier British League will receive a £1,000 cheque at the end of this season.

British League has made major developments both on and off the table in recent years. Not only has the standard of play continuously improved, a lot of time and dedication has gone in to ensure that the league runs in a manner befitting to the quality of play.

Table Tennis England CEO Sara Sutcliffe said “I am delighted to make this announcement at the opening weekend of Senior British League. There have been programmes put in place to increase the professionalism of the events, such as the umpire’s initiative and kit procedures. Recognising those improvements with an increase in the prize fund is a step towards the future.”

Meanwhile, efforts have been made to increase the publicity of players and matches, most notably in the shape of the British League’s dedicated Press and Publicity Team.

The news is therefore a rewarding end to years of hard work put in by several individuals who are now dedicated to take the British League to new heights.
