Leeds Metropolitan University played host to school teams representing the Metropolitan Districts of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield in the table tennis finals of the Jet2holidays West Yorkshire School Games (part of the Sainsbury’s School Games).

Table tennis featured as part of the West Yorkshire Sport Winter School Games Festival held in March which also featured Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Netball.

Players from Bradford Grammar School proved too strong for their opponents taking all four trophies but Silver Medalists John Smeaton Academy, Leeds (Year 9 Girls and Year 7 Girls) and Brooksbank School, Calderdale (Year 9 Boys and Year 7 Boys) also provided strong opposition, together with other schools.

Players from Beechcliffe School, Southfield School (Bradford) and Halifax High School (Calderdale) enjoyed mixed disability and polybat individual competitions.”
