One of the pioneers of table tennis has been commemorated in his former home town.

July 15 was the 125th anniversary of the granting of a patent to David Foster for ‘Improvements in Apparatus for Parlour Table Games’ – equipment which was a fore-runner of the sport we now know.

A blue plaque was installed on his former home in Micklegate, Selby, by the local Civic Society, attended by past and present members of Selby Table Tennis Club.
