A whopping £670 in prize money was paid out at the Scunthorpe one star, with several players having a good pay day.

Sheffield’s Shaun Bibby took the men’s singles title, beating Barnsley’s Ray Hurst in a very entertaining final, while Hull youngster Gauri Duhan comfortably won the ladies’ title.

Hon Choy of Newark won good money in the showpiece Prizefighter band 1 event, beating Scunthorpe’s Will Hornsey in the final.

Addi Duhan joined his sister on the winners, rostrum after beating local hard bat exponent Steve Barnes in the band 2 final and winning the Pete Skerratt memorial.

Stuart Sykes of Barnsley took the honour of the band 3 title, getting the better of Chesterfield’s Lucas King.

Possibly the biggest shock of the day was when local player Richard Zurynski got the better of Hull’s Rob Owen in the intermediates (over-18, under-40) final.

Hon Choy rounded off a very profitable day by beating a very tired Shaun Bibby in the Veterans’ final.

On the day 16 different cash prizes were awarded to 11 different players and the organising committee look forward to seeing a bumper entry (and prize pool) on Saturday January 31 for their next tournament.
