Paul Beck and Mike O’Driscoll were the winners of the first National Championships title in 2013 as they wrapped up the Veteran’s Doubles in quick-fire fashion at Ponds Forge.

With four entrants in a round-robin contest the pair lost just one game en route to what was both men’s first-ever English Senior National title.

First up they beat the Horsfield brothers, Stephen and Andrew 3-1 (11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 13-11) before securing a second win against Jojo Senorin and Chris Beckley 3-0 (13-11, 11-4, 11-5).

Their final match, which turned out to be a title-decider, was against Jimmy Walsh and Costas Papantoniou. However, despite the tension that might come from a prize-winning opportunity, Beck and O’Driscoll were comfortable in their 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 13-11) success.
