AYLESBURY TABLE TENNIS

WILMOTT CUP

Vale Table Tennis Champions, Haddenham A, gave a good account of themselves on Saturday 14 January at the Queens School Sports Complex in Aldenham Road, North Bushey in the English Leagues Competition, The Wilmott Cup. Darren Palmer and Mark Scott competed without the injured Andy Misseldine against a team that represented St Albans, Hatfield and Welwyn (SHAW) and a team from Watford on the day, with the team that came top of the group proceeding to the finals day in June.

In their encounter with SHAW our team came up against father and son combination, Jimmy and Luke Walsh with Jimmy currently in the top 20 national rankings. Whilst Darren and Mark fought valiantly they could not prevent a 5 – 0 loss. In fact former national players thought they were unlucky to lose so heavily. The Aylesbury team did us proud when they played the Watford team this time winning 5 – 0 with some ease.

Having finished in the runners up spot for the second year running, the Aylesbury Champions will want to fight again next season having enjoyed the match enormously but were very honoured to represent the Aylesbury TT league again.

Many thanks to the Queens School Complex for staging this excellent event, and also to the supporters who turned up to watch.
