Premier Division leaders, Haddenham A, suffered a postponement at the start of the second half of the season, allowing Bierton A to pinch the lead with a well taken 10 – 0 win against Tring A. Neil Massa, Allan Cherry and Mark Croucher were the unbeaten trio. In the mid-table matches Sports A came undone at the hands of Jon Abungan and Tony Gorman in a 6 – 4 loss at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Haddenham B’s home venue. Chris Hawkes could not join in the fun despite taking Chris Haines and Dave Wackrill to five games. Dave Ralls starred for Quainton A in a good 7 – 3 defeat of Bellingdon. James McCafferty returned to form with two wins for Quainton with Lawrence Chamberlain taking two for the visitors. Elsewhere Anthony McCormack from Tring’s Division Three team had a taste of life in the Premier Division when he stepped up to play against Sports B. John Richardson and Anthony Phillips won singles in the 8 – 2 loss where Tim Cheek was unbeaten for Sports.

Division One continues to be ultra competitive. Sports C lead the way by one point following their 8 – 2 defeat of Bierton B, for whom Graham Butcher and Pallav Roy took important points. Second placed Sports D took a 7 – 3 win against two man Sports E where Paul O’Connell was unbeaten for the D Team, taking a fine win against the unbeaten Roger Mason. Quainton B in third place lost a little ground losing 7 – 3 to Haddenham C. Unbeaten Cynthia Kunschke had a sparkling match for Haddenham including a win against Paul Reynolds. At the lower end of the Division Tring D maintained their position courtesy of a maximum from Mark Luscombe, but bottom team, Tring C, gained 6 valuable points in their local derby win. David Mosley, Roger Hopkins and Roger Shelton each had doubles for the C Team.

With New Year results up to date Bucks CC A now dominate Division Two after Brill A gave them a walkover. Risborough A withstood the challenge of third place Sports F 7 – 3 and remain runners-up. Rivets B faltered 2 – 8 against their first team for whom Alan Harling starred. This let Bucks CC B in to fourth spot as they beat level standing clubmates Bucks CC E 6 – 4 despite Vic Davies’ maximum. The bottom pair met with Bucks CC D surprising their C team seniors 7 – 3 with good performances from Gerry Saunders, Leigh Hurkett and Anna Wharrier.

In Division Three Risborough B won comfortably 10 – 0 at bottom team Sports H but this did not allow them to overhaul top team Tring E who had been held to a draw by third place Sports G. Steve Tipton was unbeaten for Tring. Quainton C, Brill B and Elmhurst all share fourth place after respective wins over Haddenham E 8 – 2, Bucks CC F 8 – 2 and Risborough C 6 – 4. Ally Ginger and Paul Unwin, Maurice Hawes and Joe Gerrans were the unbeaten players.
