Evie Collier was named Sportsperson of the Year at Nottingham Trent University’s annual Sports Ball.
The award is for the individual who has had the most exceptional performance this year whilst representing NTU, and Collier won 18 out of 20 of her league table tennis matches.
As part of the women’s team she was runner-up in the BUCS championship cup and also represented Great Britain in South Korea in the summer as part of the World University Games.
Collier, 21, who is in her final year studying sport education and disability, said: “I was quite shocked, I wasn’t expecting it. It’s a very big achievement and a nice award to get for all the hard work throughout the year.
“It was an amazing night and it was nice to be in our team and celebrating and with all the other sports as well, celebrating the success we’ve had as a university.”
