The ITTF World Tour Austrian Open starts tomorrow – with five English players competing.
Taking place in Linz, the competition will start with the qualifying group stage.
Competing in the Women’s Singles is England No 1 & 2 Tin-Tin Ho and Maria Tsaptsinos.
Ho (world ranked 105) will play WR No 106 Hyo Sim Cha (PRK), while Tsaptsinos (WR 203) will play Ukraine’s Tetyana Bilenko (WR 98).
In the Men’s Singles, Andrew Baggaley will play Austria’s Simon Pfeffer (world ranked No 205) in preliminary round 1.
The action for both Paul Drinkhall & Liam Pitchford begins in preliminary round 2. Drinkhall will play Hungary’s Bence Majoros, while Pitchford will face either Frane Kojic (CRO) or Lorencio Lupulesku (SRB).
Drinkhall & Pitchford are also competing in the doubles again. On Wednesday they will play Sharath Kamal Achanta & Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in preliminary round 1.
All players will be hoping to make it through to the main draw action, which begins on Thursday. The world’s top 14 male players will all be present, with the top 16 seeds completed by two high-ranked Austrian players (Daniel Habesohn and Robert Gardos) in their home country. On the women’s side, the seeds comprise the world’s top 15 and the 33rd-ranked Austrian Liu Jia.
