As many of the UK’s leading table tennis players prepare to converge on Nottingham for the fifth Grand Prix of the season this weekend, the city’s university is recruiting promising students who want to take their game to higher levels.
The University of Nottingham has one of the best-established table tennis programmes in UK higher education, offering students the chance to combine their studies with world-class table tennis training.
This includes an unrivalled performance programme with up to 15 hours a week of high-quality training and coaching, access to a range of fantastic scholarships to assist with individual training and competition opportunities, plus excellent strength and conditioning backed up with full physiotherapy support.
The programme is delivered by international-level coaches and sparrers, including programme director Nicola Perry, a former England No 1. She is backed up by National Coach Alan Cooke, senior national champion Kelly Sibley and European and world junior medallist Gavin Evans.
The university has also forged links with table tennis establishments in Asia, allowing its students international opportunity and experience.
