Guo Yan and Guo Yue

The higher rated Singles players came out on top in the Ladies Doubles Final. Guo Yan (World no. one) and Guo Yue (World no. two) lost the first end against team-mates Ding Ning and Li Xiaoxia but they came back strongly to take the next three games. The title was their’s to lose and they made no mistake in the fifth end racing home 11-2 to give themselves a 6-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-9, 11-2 victory. This is the seventh Pro Tour Ladies Doubles title for Guo Yan whilst for 22 year-old Gue Yue this represents an incredible twenty-eighth Ladies Doubles Pro Tour crown. She  won her first title in 2002 in Australia at the age of 13.

The Mens Doubles Final saw the younger Chinese pairing – Zhang Jike and Xu Xin come out on top surprisingly easily  11-7, 11-2, 14-12, 11-1 against their team-mates Ma Lin and Wang Hao. The Olympic Singles Finalists made a big effort in the third end and pulled back from 7-3 to 7-7 but it just wasn’t their day. They lost 14-12 and that was it. There was no stopping the fluent Zhang Jike and Xu Xin. They raced home in the fourth end.  This is the fourth Mens Doubles ITTF Pro Tour titles for both Zhang Jike and Xu Xin.
