Satoshi Aida and Daniel Schaffer picked up two wins apiece as Urban cemented their place at the top of Premier British League with a 5-3 win over Fusion.

The league pacesetters registered their fourth win of the season to retain their one-point advantage at the top, but they were made to work hard for it thanks largely to Emran Hussain, who picked up a superb maximum.

Urban had raced into a 3-0 lead after straight end victories for Aida, Schaffer and Szilard Gyorgy over Niall Cameron, Joseph Hee and Lorestas Trumpauskas respectively.

Hussain got Fusion on the board with a five-end triumph over Alim Hirji, before Aida and Schaffer secured the win with further 3-0 wins over Trumpauskas and Cameron.

Hussain and Hee would make the score respectable thereafter. Hussain superbly defeated Gyorgy while Hee overcame Hirji.

Urban, however, are still unable to shake off Ormesby and Drumchapel, who both remain a point adrift after heavy victories.

Ormesby hammered basement club Cardiff 8-0, with the quartet of Viktor Brodd, Daniel Reed, Matej Mamut and Joe Cope dropping just three ends on their way to the whitewash.

Meanwhile, Drumchapel won the battle of Scotland as they defeated North Ayrshire 7-1.

David McBeath, Simon Berglund and Craig Howieson all won two apiece to extend Drumchapel’s unbeaten start, with North Ayrshire’s solitary set coming through Colin Dalgleish, who impressively defeated Yannick Vostes 3-0.

Finally, Ormeau cemented their place in the top half with a 7-1 win over a weakened BATTS side.

Brazilian ace Vitor Ishiy showed his class with two straight-set wins, and he was ably supported by Paul McCreery, Ashley Robinson and Owen Cathcart, who all chipped in with wins.

BATTS, who have now lost four straight matches, picked up their set through Helshan Weerasinghe, who impressively overcame Paul McCreery.
