Ping! arrived in several of the parks this week as part of the Leeds Active Parks programme launch. The initiative is encouraging local communities to get active in the parks with a schedule of planned and coached activities of several different sports. Local councillors have paid for permanent outdoor tables to be installed at Armley, Middleton and East End Parks and every Monday throughout the summer an hours free coaching will be delivered at each site.
Sally Shutt,Development Officer North commented- ‘The parks provide a really visible opportunity for us during the summer to engage with local communities. By providing a weekly schedule of planned activities throughout the summer hopefully this will encourage regular participation and consequently people will then seek play on opportunities in local leisure centres, clubs and new more social centres which we are developing city wide’.
