Outdoor Table Tennis Tables are having a fantastic impact
The initiative to place outdoor Table Tennis tables around the grounds of South Leeds Academy has had a fantastic impact on many areas of school life. The tables have been in place now for 6 months, which has helped to grow the participation rates and profile of Table Tennis in the Academy. This has had a positive impact in lessons and the school have seen an increase in extra-curricular clubs and students wanting to engage in competitive Table Tennis.
Recently students from the Academy competed in various fixtures against other schools across the city. The year 10 boys have been successful in reaching the Leeds Secondary Schools Year 10 play-off finals, to decide who represents Leeds at the West Yorkshire School Games at Leeds Beckett University.
Students have also been arriving earlier to school to make use of the tables before lessons start which is also very encouraging to see as their punctually and attendance benefits.
Overall, the tables have been a great success for which the students have received a great deal of enjoyment from and gives them something positive to do at break and lunch times.
