Sixteen top technology companies battled it out in a disused mechanics workshop in the backstreets of Shoreditch for the ultimate bragging rights to be crowned Ping Pong Fight Club Champions 2015!
64 players from Funding Circle, Yoti, Expedia, Skimlinks, Zopa, Last FM, Queen Mary Uni, Market Invoice, Deliveroo, Just Giving, Ticketmaster, Unruly, Moo, Lend invest, Index Ventures, and Ovo Energy stepped into the ring to do battle, backed by their cheering mass of supporters, fuelled by complimentary Pistonhead Lager and Enjoy Life By The Glass, this year’s tournament sponsors.
After some epic group stage matches and close knockout games we reached the Grand Final where Shaun Gibson from Yoti faced off against Miguel Roca from Funding Circle.
Newcomers Yoti were looking to end Funding Circle’s two-year domination, however, it was not to be. After an incredibly tense and close fought match, hysteria broke out among the fans when Roca won the final point and was hoisted above the crowd in jubilant celebration!
Ping Pong Fight Club is an annual tournament played out among some of the leading tech companies in the UK and is now in its third year. It was hosted by Funding Circle along with Pongathon, with all profits to be donated to a local charity.
