Shae Thakker became the latest in a long line of Cippenham youngsters to gain international honours over the weekend.

His call-up was for Great Britain in the Belgian Para Open, an event in the International Table Tennis Federation Para Table Tennis Division.

The event was played in Sint-Niklas  and comprised a team event and individual singles. Shae played in Class 10 but in the individual singles found his world-ranked opponents from Belgium and Poland too strong.

However, representing Great Britain II in the team event with Craig Allen, Shae did get his first international win during a match in which GB beat Belgium 3-1. The other two matches were lost, 1-3 against a Kazakhstan/Russia combination and 0-3 against an Austria/Poland duo.
