Tin-Tin Ho and Sam Walker will spearhead a young England squad for the Commonwealth Championships in India.

The Commonwealth Games silver medallists head an eight-strong contingent who will travel to Surat for the competition from December 16 to 21.

Ho will be reunited with Maria Tsaptsinos and Lois Peake, alongside whom she finished seventh in the team competition at the European Youth Championships in Bratislava in July.

The women’s line-up is completed by Karina Le Fevre, who was also a member of the England line-up at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Joining Walker in the men’s squad are David McBeath, Helshan Weerasinghe and Tom Jarvis – the latter two were also in action in Bratislava.

Simon Mills, Table Tennis England’s Head of Coaching & Performance, said: “These young players have earned the right to represent England through their recent performances.

“This is a big opportunity for them to continue their learning curves by competing at a prestigious international event, which is an important building block towards our objective to get our players to the top of the world game.”

The squad will be hoping to improve on England’s medal haul at the last Commonwealth Championships in Delhi in 2013, when they won three silvers and two bronzes.
