To celebrate National Ping Pong Day, Grand Union Wandsworth will be hosting the ‘Grand Union Grand Slam’ on Thursday the 17th of July.
The Grand Union will be pulling out all the stops, serving up a night of Ping Pong, Burgers & Cocktails. Known for it’s massive ‘pleasure garden’, The Grand Union will be taking Table Tennis ‘alfresco’ with 3 outdoor tables available. For all you budding Ping Pong champs there will be a chance to test your mettle in the ‘Grand Union Grand Slam’ Table Tennis tournament which kicks things off at 6.30pm. The match will consist of short games of 11 points where everyone will have a chance to play each person in their group before progressing through to the knock out finals rounds.
Chloe O’Hare-Carroll, Sales and Events Manager at Grand Union Bar, said: “Players of all abilities are welcome, with the focus on having a good time rather than smashing any records! The tournament winner will nab a Bar tab.
“For the less competitively minded there will be plenty of opportunities for a friendly hit over a few drinks. Cocktail specials include ‘The Cucumber & Elderflower Fizz’, £5 all day and night to get you in the Summer spirit and perhaps improve your game?”
O’Hare-Carroll added: “The Bar also has three quirky Thai Tree Huts available to book and music pumping inside should the weather turn ‘English’.
“It will be a fun night to have a hit and a mingle whatever your skill level. Singles, Doubles and bad puns welcome. Paddle Up!”
