Pink Pong joins forces with Cancer Research UK

Pink Pong, a table tennis fundraising group based in Plymouth, have teamed up with Cancer Research UK to continue their work towards curing cancer for good.

Liz May, founder of Pink Pong, organised a fundraising golf event at Boringdon Park Golf Club which raised around £1,000 for the charity.  At the event she also handed over a cheque for £750 for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Ms May said: “A friend and fellow table tennis player was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36, not knowing what to do I played around with the idea of ‘pink pong’ and in a discussion with our junior representative Beth Wilson, Pink Pong was launched.

“Around 2.4 million people partake in table tennis each year, while one in three people are diagnosed with cancer each year, my objective is to use my sport to make a difference.”

Ann-Maree James, Cancer Research UK’s Local Fundraising Manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Liz May and Pink Pong have decided to fundraise for us! Liz is an inspiring person with so much energy, and we look forward to working with her to raise as much money as possible for our lifesaving research.

“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”
