To celebrate the arrival of the Olympic torch coming to Poole, two of England’s top senior international table tennis players; Matt Ware, 21, and David McBeath, 20, put on an impressive exhibition of table tennis to wow a packed audience.
The table tennis exhibition was held in the Emerson Hall in Hermitage Road, Upper Parkstone – the home for the newly formed Parkstone Table Tennis Club.
A packed audience of Parkstone scouts, cubs and local budding table tennis players were treated to a showcase of table skills by Ware and McBeath.
Ware, ranked at number 8 in England along with David McBeath, ranked 9, played out a five game exhibition extravaganza of trick shots to dazzle the keen onlookers.
Following the performance, all the youngsters participated in a round the table competition with the internationals and afterwards there were photo and autograph opportunities.
The existing hall is mainly used as a meeting place for the Scout movement, but now a new table tennis club has been formed called ‘Parkstone Table Tennis Club’ that will meet every Thursday during the day from 10am to 1pm to offer a facility to enjoy a friendly practice session where all ages are welcome to join in and only for £3 a session.
Hopefully the Olympic flame will inspire people of all ages to join in the friendly club sessions every Thursday from 10am-1pm, on the three table tennis tables.
