The England junior boys trio of Sam Walker, Lewis Gray and George Downing found the going tough in Poland as no player managed to get past the round of 64 in the singles event.
There were some positives though as both Walker and Downing managed to progress from their group before being defeated by Henrik Johansson (4-3) and Vitor Ishiy (4-0) respectively.
Gray was the victim of back luck though as he was denied progress to the main stage after his group was decided on countback. Gray had overseen a tight victory against Jorgen Johansen before also beating group top seed Michal Pavolka, but his defeat to Belarussian Gleb Shamruk 3-0 (12-10, 13-11, 11-8) meant he lost out on games ratio.
His consolation event campaign ended at the last 16 stage with defeat to Vadim Yarashenka.
The doubles campaign also ended quickly after one win and one defeat. Waker and Gray beat Polish pair Mateusz Dykowski and Marcin Sankowski but could not follow up that performance against the tournament’s second seeds – Hungarian’s Tamas Lakatos and Adam Szudi.
