Danny Lawrence pulled off the biggest shock of the men’s singles groups with a fantastic win over the 19th seed Tom Maynard.

Maynard was the firm favourite going into the group but the cadet player pulled out his ‘A’ game and duly booked his place in the first round for a match with Sean Cullen.

Lawrence, the 69th seed, eventually won 3-1.

In the other groups that weren’t mentioned before it was progressions all round from the top seeds as Will Maybanks, Mark Simpson, Igor Morais, Sam Walker, Lewis Gray, Kev Dolder, and Emran Hussain.
