Oxford Cadet team takes Heart of England Silver
The Oxford Cadet Table Tennis team played their last two matches in the Heart of England Cadet League at Leamington on Saturday, defeating both Walsall and Sutton Coldfield 9-1. No 4 player Ethan Ball was included for both matches and won 4/6, while Jonah Stott (Capt), Simon Price and Niall Harris won all their singles matches and Simon also featured in both doubles wins. Thus the team easily held on to 2nd place, just behind Rugby A, but ahead of fast-finishing Leamington A.
In the knockout singles which followed, Simon defeated Niall 3-2 and went on to eliminate Paul Lilley (Rugby A), who had just knocked out his top-seeded team-mate Anshul Satsangi. Simon’s brilliant day ended with a 2-3 loss to Niall Herbert (Rugby A) in the semi-final. In the other half of the draw Jonah Stott progressed to the quarter- final, where he lost 2-3 to Tom Meldrum (Leamington).
