Day Five of Team Event – Bronze Medal for the Junior Boys

Cadet Girls.

Emma Torkington made an incredible come back in the cadet girls team event today. England were 2 -1 down in the match against Slovakia and Emma trailed Lucia Ivanova ranked 41 places above her by two set and 8 – 2 down in the third. Emma showed great fighting spirit to turn that game around and then proceeded to win the next two sets to level the match at 2 – 2. Tin Tin Ho then played out a five end thriller which she won 15 – 13 to leave England finishing above Slovakia in 19th place.

Cadet Boys.

Helshan Weerasinghe returned to the side after recovering from an ankle injury. Paired with Igor Morais the boys beat Switzerland 3 – 0 to end in 15th place and keeping them in the top division.

Junior Girls.

Yolanda King played at number three and won her singles match against Wales along with one win for Karina Le Fevre. This unfortunately wasn’t enough and Wales won the match 3 – 2 leaving England in 22nd position.

Junior Boys.

Sam Walker and Lewis Gray made their first starts for the junior boys today along with Sean Cullen in the third and fourth playoff position. Sam Walker had a good win over Florent Lambiet but that was the only win for England as Belgium won 3 -1.
