The votes cast at this week’s EGM have now been counted and verified by the Returning Officer and Scrutineers and can now be published.
There were three Special Resolutions on the agenda, each requiring 75% of the votes cast in order to be approved.
Votes were cast by Directors, National Councillors and League Representative Company Members.
The results as reported by the Returning Officer at 4.31pm today (in agenda order), are below. Under Company Law, abstentions do not count as votes cast and are therefore not included in the percentage calculations.
Special Resolution 1
A vote of no confidence and instruction to the Board to remove from the Board – Anthony Catt, Elected Deputy Chair of Table Tennis England.
Number of votes (excluding abstentions): 45,129
For: 23,340
Against: 21,789
Abstained: 1,851
Percentage in favour of the Resolution: 52%
Special Resolution 2
A vote of no confidence and instruction to the Board to remove from office and from any other table tennis posts held domestically or internationally – Sandra Deaton, Chair of Table Tennis England.
Number of votes (excluding abstentions): 43,537
For: 7,609
Against: 35,928
Abstained: 3,443
Percentage in favour of the Resolution: 17%
Special Resolution 3
A vote of no confidence and instruction to the Board to remove from office and from any other table tennis related posts held domestically or internationally – Sara Sutcliffe MBE, Chief Executive Officer of Table Tennis England.
Number of votes (excluding abstentions): 44,172
For: 4,581
Against: 39,591
Abstained: 2,808
Percentage in favour of the Resolution: 10%
Therefore, none of the Special Resolutions were passed. The Board will meet to discuss the outcome in the coming days.
A total of 227 people registered to join the EGM and 226 actually joined the meeting, which lasted 2hr 45min, plus the voting window of just over an hour.
