Table Tennis England has opened the process of Umpire Selection for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Anyone interested in applying must be able to meet the following pre-requisites:
- Be at Level 2 (National) standard or higher by the end of Stage 1 applications
- Be able to commit to the following dates and be able to stay in the provided accommodation for the following period – arrival 24/25 July 2022 and departure 8 August 2022. No exceptions are permitted and you will be required to stay for the full time period
- Take part in formal Table Tennis England training and support other selected umpires in this training where requested in the build-up to the Games
- Attend selected Table Tennis England Competitions in the build up to the Games
All decisions on who is nominated for the Games will based on Selection Criteria which will be formed by the Commonwealth Games Selection Committee. This group is a sub-committee of the Technical Officials Committee
Application Process
Stage 1 – expression of interest for all Umpires at Level 2 (National) upwards. You should submit your desire to be included in the Games by email to Chris Newton by 28 February, 2021.
Stage 2 – a formal application process will open to everyone who has expressed an interest with a closing date of 30 April, 2021. The selection criteria will also be shared at this stage.
Stage 3 – Decisions on selections will be made and communicated during June 2021.
Once decisions are made and communicated, the selected list of umpires will be put forward for final approval by the Commonwealth Games Federation. CGF will have made these decision at the latest by the end of January 2022.
