The remaining rounds of the County Championships for the 2020/21 season have been cancelled as a result of the pandemic.

The County Championships committee made the decision in the light of ongoing uncertainty around when ‘mass’ competitions will be able to resume, and what form they will be able to take.

Table Tennis England has already cancelled a series of national ‘mass’ events scheduled for the spring, including British League weekends.

County Championships administrator Dave Goulden said: “It’s with regret that this decision has been taken but, even assuming we get the green light to start competitive table tennis, it would have been hard for many counties to field teams in all age groups.

“We felt it was the right thing to make the decision now so everyone knows where we stand and hopefully we can all come back strongly in the 2021/22 season.”

He said entry forms for the 2021/22 season would be sent out next March and that promotion & relegation from the 2019/20 season would be taken into account for 2021/22.
