Table Tennis England President Jill Parker MBE has spoken of her gratitude to the volunteers who helped her throughout her career and is urging our members to honour volunteers by nominating them for a Pride of Table Tennis Award.

Jill was European champion and holds the record for most national women’s singles titles with seven. She was awarded the MBE for services to the sport.

But she says she could not have achieved that without the support of numerous volunteers from her early days at the Slough British Legion club and all the way through her career.

Jill’s husband Don, a Board member and former England player himself, added his voice to honour volunteers who help people to enjoy and achieve at all levels of our sport.

There is still more than a week to put people forward for Pride of Table Tennis Awards, with nominations closing at 11.59pm on Sunday October 18.

We’re asking clubs and leagues to honour their volunteers at a local level – click here to nominate your club or league volunteer of the year.

All local nominees will go forward into the regional stage of the awards, and the regional winners will then reach the national shortlist stage which encompasses the full range of Pride of Table Tennis Awards.

Remember, we have new categories this year for Local Lockdown Hero and School of the Year, alongside awards for Coach, Club, League, Technical Official and Partner of the Year, the Inclusivity Award, Inspiration Award, Contribution to Table Tennis and of course the Blue Riband Volunteer of the Year and Young Volunteer of the Year.

These will be presented at a gala dinner to be held at the National Conference in June 2021.
