The National Para Championships has fallen victim to the Coronavirus situation, with British Para Table Tennis announcing the event has been postponed.

The tournament was due to take place at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre on the April 4-5. It will be rescheduled on a date to be confirmed.

In a statement, BPTT Chairman Karen Tonge MBE said: “This will stay under review but the health and welfare of our players, supporters and their families are of paramount concern and priority. We collectively have a public duty to ensure that we protect each other and the para table tennis community as a whole.

“Currently there will be no refunds of entry fees but players will be informed of alternative plans in due course. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we feel we have no other course of action to take in order to minimise the cost implications as far out as possible for everyone. We thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.”
