Liam Pitchford is into the last 16 of the Hungarian Open, while Tin-Tin Ho has a doubles quarter-final to look forward to on Friday.

Pitchford, the ninth seed, made a fast start, taking the first game 11-2, but his opponent hit back in the second and again in the fourth before Pitchford pulled ahead to win 4-2.

He is up against Qiu Dang of Germany, who defeated Paul Drinkhall on his way to winning the Portugal Open last week, in the next round at 5pm UK time on Friday. Click here to watch the match on itTV (registration required).

Ho is playing alongside familiar partner Karoline Mischek of Austria, with whom she won last year’s European under-21 gold medal. The pair won a tight first game 15-13 against seventh seeds Adriana & Melanie Diaz of Puerto Rico, which gave them the platform to go on and take the tie in three straight.

Their quarter-final is against second seeds Doo Hoi Kem & Lee Ho Ching of Hong Kong on Friday morning.
