Liam Pitchford is up to a career high No 12 in the latest ITTF world rankings.

The England No 1 climbs three places in the latest list, which is again headed by Xu Xin, with Chinese athletes comprising the top four and half of the top 10.

Jarvis, who defeated then world No 32 Sharath Achanta of India at the Commonwealth Championships last month, where he also won singles bronze, climbs to 170. Paul Drinkhall is up five places to 82 and Sam Walker up three to 85.

In the women’s rankings, Commonwealth Championships singles bronze medallist Tin-Tin Ho remains the highest-ranked English player, up four places to 104, 58 ahead of Maria Tsaptsinos.

Emily Bolton, part of the England team which won Commonwealth Championships silver, is up more than 50 places to a career high 411, one place ahead of team-mate Denise Payet.

The women’s list is topped by five Chinese players, headed by Chen Meng.

Of the home nations players, Scotland’s Gavin Rumgay, who reached the quarter-finals of the North Korea Open last month, is up 32 at No 130. In the women’s list, Charlotte Carey of Wales is up eight places at 138.
