Ramsden A produced the most notable result in the first division of the Central Essex Summer Table Tennis League to date.

They beat leaders Chelmsford A 4-1 in a match where Ramsden came very close to winning 5-0. Peter Barrett was undefeated whilst Gary Ward only succumbed to Simon Jarvis 3-2 (3-11, 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-13). Barrett looked to be playing really well as he saw off Jarvis 3-1 (11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 11-7).

Chelmsford C are tied with Danbury A and Ramsden B on eight points in division two. Rajeev Mehta led the way as Chelmsford C beat Ramsden B 4-1. Mehta came through a real nail biter against Neil Freeman 3-2 (12-14, 9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9).

Danbury A (Steve and Chris Buer) romped home 5-0 against Ramsden C. Chris Buer had to pull all the stops out to get the better of John Gagg in five (11-3, 9-11, 11-3, 11-13, 13-11).

The division three match between Ramsden D and Danbury B was a good one. All four players – Ramsden’s Kevin Smart and Sue Body and Danbury’s Ken Sheard and Tony Forster won once. Body defeated Forster 3-2 (11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 12-10, 13-11) in the pick of the night’s action.

Chelmsford E, led by an undefeated Adi Kamma, beat Cold Norton B 3-2. There was never anything in it when Kamma played Terry Hyland and Kamma shaded it 3-2 (12-10, 11-13, 8-11, 11-9, 12-10) – quite a battle.

Danbury C did well to beat Danbury D 4-1. Ben Porter was undefeated for Danbury C.

Galleywood B made it two wins out of two in division four. Mark Glenister was relatively untroubled in leading his team to a 4-1 win over Galleywood A. Chelmsford F also won 4-1, beating OCs E. Andy Swales remained undefeated. Farooq Ahmed showed up well for the losers with a decisive 3-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-8) win over Ian Austin.

There is just one result in division five and ARU Rhinos beat Chelmsford G 3-2 despite the fact that Jacqui Smith won twice for Chelmsford G. She beat Mubarak Sulaiman 3-1 (10-12, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7) and Steve Peacock 3-1 (5-11, 11-3, 12-10, 11-9).

There was a first defeat for Chelmsford Cougars in division six. Chelmsford Pumas, led by an undefeated Saul Chivers, dented their record with an impressive 4-1 victory. Saul Chivers beat Harry Chivers over five pulsating ends (11-3, 11-13, 14-12, 7-11, 13-11).

Danbury F also won 4-1. Jenson Davis led them to victory against Chelmsford Leopards. Cleon Fernandes was locked at 2-2 against Elliot Gardiner but Fernandes powered home in the fifth end to win 3-2 (8-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-6, 11-2).

Chelmsford Leopards in turn beat Ramsden Bellhouse D 4-1. Fernandes was undefeated on this occasion.

Chelmsford Rhinos had Joshua Bickles to thank in their 4-1 win over Danbury E. Bickles impressed by beating Jenson Davis 3-0 (11-6, 11-1, 11-8) and Elliot Gardiner 3-0 (11-9, 11-9, 11-3).

And in what was must be a unique set of results Danbury E beat Ramsden Bellhouse D. The scoreline, that all too familiar 4-1. Jenson Davis was undefeated and that included a hard-fought 3-2 (7-11, 11-3, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7) win over Ben Brown.

Chelmsford Falcons made it three maximum point wins in division seven. James Killeen ad Oliver Cheung ran out 5-0 winners against Chelmsford Tigers. Ramsden Bellhouse E only trail them by one point and they beat Ramsden Belllhouse F 4-1. Harry Hutt was undefeated whilst Oscar Hutt won once – a hard-fought 3-2 (8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8) success against Seamus Mellon.

Chelmsford Wildcats shaded their match against Chelmsford Eagles 3-2. Georgina Riches and Alesha Ellis-Austin both won once to counter the two wins picked by Charlie Donald.

Chelmsford Panthers complete this week’s results with their 3-2 win over Chelmsford Wolves. Nathan Tew won twice for the Wolves and Malachi O’Leary and George Spicer picked up one win apiece for the Panthers.
