Bardsley, who has become a Senior England international since winning last year’s Junior Girls’ Singles title, will be seeded second for this year’s event. The top seed is Denise Payet, who missed last year’s event because she was on duty for England at the World Team Championships.

In the Junior Boys, Shayan Siraj is top seed and will be aiming to avoid a repeat of last year, when he was beaten in the last 16 by Sam Wilson. The second seed is James Smith, who was beaten by the no longer eligible Joe Clark in the final last year.

In the Cadets, last year’s singles winners Jasmin Wong and Amirul Hussain are now in the Juniors – Wong is seeded third in the girls’ event and Hussain sixth in the boys’.

It leaves Ruby Chan to top the seedings for the girls, ahead of Anaya Patel, while Naphong Boonyaprapa is the top seed for the boys, with Louis Price second.

In the doubles, there are also no defending champions as pairs, although Siraj, Smith, Mollie Patterson and Chan can all win again with different partners in various categories.

The event gets under way on Saturday at the David Ross Sports Village at the University of Nottingham. It will be streamed live on the Table Tennis England platforms – more details will appear on the website and social media later this week.
