Bribar St Neots Saints and PPong are both back to start the defence of the Veterans’ British League titles at the first weekend of this season’s competition.

Derby Arena is again the venue for the action, with 40 tables on the go at what is one of the biggest and busiest weekends on the calendar.

In the men’s Premier Division, it is a case of who can stop St Neots, who have won the title for five years on the spin, last year finishing five points clear of runners-up PPong Vets.

However, it may be worth keeping an eye on top flight newcomers Musketeers, who romped to the Division 1B title last season and will once again be spearheaded by Mike O’Driscoll, who won all 18 matches last term. Foresters A are also new to the division.

The women’s Premier Division has had three different winners in the last half-dozen years, with PPong holding the honours having finished a solitary point clear of Market Rasen last season.

The runners-up were the defending champions last year so will be keen to get their hands back on a trophy they have won three times in recent memory. MK Girls and Fusion Ladies are the two promoted teams.
